SHEATZ, John Oscar, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, February 27, 1855 in Lehigh County, Pa.; attended, Muhlenberg College; served, First Regiment, Infantry, Pennsylvania National Guard; apprentice, Baldwin Locomotive Works (5 years); employed, Baldwin Locomotive Works (13 years); engaged, coal business; engaged, real estate business; treasurer, Frank Queen Publishing Company, New York; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1902, 1904, and 1906; resigned from the House, May 1, 1908; elected, Pennsylvania State Treasurer (1908-1912); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (Special Election, 1912-1914); president, Moshanon Creek Coal Mining Company; died, June 25, 1922 in Atlantic City, Atlantic County, New Jersey; interred, West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
