PLACE, James N., a Representative from Monroe County; born in Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County, Pa., March 28, 1857; elected, school director, Coolbaugh; appointed, postmaster, United States Postal Service, Coolbaugh (1884-1890);  hotel proprietor; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1902 and 1904 serving 2 consecutive terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1906); died, July 11, 1920 in Monroe County, Pennsylvania; interred, Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Burying Ground, Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania.
