NORTH, Solomon Taylor., a Representative from Jefferson County; born in South Young Township, Jefferson County, Pa., May 24, 1853; educated in public schools; served, Pennsylvania National Guard (5 years); school teacher (6 years); school director (20 years); farmer; elected, tax collector, auditor and assessor; proprietor, lumbering business; director, Punxsutawney National Bank; elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1898) ; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1904, 1906, 1910 and 1912; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1908, 1914); elected, United States Congress (1915-1917); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to Congress (1916); died, October 19, 1917 in Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania; interred, Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.
