MONAGHAN, Charles J., a Representative from Schuylkill County; born in Butler Township, Schuylkill County, Pa., December 9, 1874; private, Company F, 8th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers Infantry (1898-1899, Spanish-American War); coal miner; hotel and saloon proprietor; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1908; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1910); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1914); died, November 18, 1942 in Girardville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Fountain Springs, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
