McHALE, Paul F., Jr., a Representative from Lehigh County; born in Bethlehem, Northampton County, Pa., July 26, 1950; graduated, Liberty High School; B.A., Lehigh University, 1972; J.D., Georgetown University Law Center, 1977; served, United States Marine Corps (1972-1974); served, United States Marine Corps Reserve (1974-present); attorney; Fountain Hill Planning Commission (1977-1980); member, Lehigh County Young Democrats (1978-1984); member, Lehigh County Executive Democratic Committee (1980-1982); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1980); adjunct professor, Northampton County Community College (1981); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1983 term and served 4 more consecutive terms; appointed, Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing (1983-1986); resigned from the House, February 25, 1991; elected, United States Congress (1993-1999); appointed, United States Assistant Secretary of Defense, Homeland Security (2003-2009); president, Civil Support International LLC (2009-present).
