MARCUS, Joseph, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, October 1, 1874 in the city of Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; graduated, Girard College, 1895; chief clerk, Civil Service Commission of Philadelphia (14 years); clerk, committee on public works, city council, Philadelphia (9 years); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1920; resigned from the House, April 28, 1921; reelected to the House in 1922; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1924); mercantile appraiser, Philadelphia; died, July 29, 1941 in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
