KELLY, Melville Clyde, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, August 4, 1883 in Bloomfield, Muskingum County, Oh.; attended, Muskingum College; established, Braddock Leader (1904); proprietor, Braddock Daily News Publishing Company (1907); president and editor, Daily News Herald; elected as an Independent Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1911 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for 1913 term; elected, United States Congress (1913-1915, 1919-1935); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to Congress (1914, 1934); elected as a Progressive, United States Congress (1917-1918); died, April 29, 1935 in Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania; interred, Marchand Cemetery, Marchand, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
