GARNER, Alfred Buckwalter, a Representative from Schuylkill County; born in Ashland, Schuylkill County, Pa., March 4, 1873; machinist; civil and mining engineer; lawyer; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1901 term; reelected to serve 4 more nonconsecutive terms, 1903, 1905, 1907 and 1915; elected, Majority Leader (1907-1908); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1908, 1916); elected, United States Congress (1909-1911); taxing officer, Pennsylvania Auditor General’s Office (1917-1930); died, July 29, 1930 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
