MERRY, James R., a Representative from Erie and Crawford Counties; born, Andover, Ashtabula County, Oh., August 21, 1927; graduated, Linesville High School; graduated, General Motors Institute of Technology, 1949; private, United States Army (1945-1946, World War II); owner, Western Auto Store (1955-1980); director and president, Linesville Chamber of Commerce (1958-1959, 1979-1980); elected, president, council, Linesville Borough (1959-1971); director, Senior Citizen Housing Development (PALFUND) (1969-1992); member, Crawford County Industrial Authority (1972-1989); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1980; served 7 more consecutive terms; appointed, Special Bipartisan Committee to Investigate Industrial Plant Closings (1984); appointed, Local Government Commission (1993-1996; chair, 1995-1996); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1996); died, February 1, 2001 in Conneautville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Linesville Cemetery, Linesville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
