ESLER, James M., a Representative from Allegheny County; born, October 24, 1854 in Fawn Township, Allegheny County, Pa.; graduated, Southwestern Normal School (now Pennsylvania Western University, California), 1878; school teacher (5 years); proprietor, retail drug store (18 years); elected, alternate delegate, Republican National Convention (1896); census supervisor, Allegheny County (1900); general agent, Manhattan life Insurance Company of New York; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1902; reelected in 1904 and 1906; resigned from the House, December 27, 1907; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Tarentum (1907-1911); superintendent of distribution, printing office, Pennsylvania Department of General Services (1911-1916); vice-president, Tarentum Savings & Trust Co.; died, November 21, 1920 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Prospect Cemetery, Brackenridge, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
