ELGIN, Dr. Eugene, a Representative from Adams County; born, March 27, 1886 in Washington County, Md.; attended, Shenk’s Seminary; graduated, University of Maryland; M.D., Atlantic Medical College, 1909; physician (1909-1951); staff physician, Gettysburg Hospital; president, East Berlin Board of Health; medical inspector of schools; school director (4 years); director, East Berlin and Abbottstown Electric Light Company; president, East Berlin Fire Company (14 years); elected, burgess, East Berlin (10 years); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1920; not a candidate for reelection to the House in the 1922 General election; epidemiologist (12 years); division chief, Pennsylvania Department of Health; medical director, Adams County; died, February 11, 1951 in East Berlin, Adams County, Pennsylvania; interred, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Cemetery, Petersville, Frederick County, Maryland.
