DAWSON, Hugh A., a Representative from Lackawanna County; born in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pa., July 24, 1884; attended, civil engineering, University of Pennsylvania (1 year); coal miner; draftsman, mining engineering department, Delaware and Hudson Company (1903-1908); elected, judge of electors, Scranton; general superintendent, Clearview Coal Company (1908-1914); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1915 term and served 3 more consecutive terms thereafter; elected, Minority Leader (1921-1922); not a candidate for reelection to the House in the 1922 General election; gubernatorial appointee, Pennsylvania Fuel Commission (1922); partner, Dawson & O'Hara, insurance firm; partner, J. B. Noros Company, mine machinery and equpment sales; died, October 11, 1930 in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania; interred, St. Peter and Paul's Russian Orthodox Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
