CRAIG, James Reed, a Representative from Erie County; born, Greenville, Clarion County, Pa., on September 9, 1869; attended, Oberlin College; attended, Clarion State Normal School (now Pennsylvania Western University, Clarion); graduated, Grove City College, 1890; law clerk, office of Supreme Court justice Emory A. Walling, Erie (October 1891-January 1894); lawyer (1894-1947); secretary, Republican County Committee; elected, chairman, Erie City Republican Committee; elected, notary public, Erie County (1899-1908); secretary and treasurer, Union Oil Works of Erie (1900-1920); lawyer, Draft Board No. 1 of Erie County (World War I); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1920; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1922); died, June 27, 1947 in Alameda, Alameda County, California; interred, Erie Cemetery, Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania.
