CASEY, John Joseph, a Representative from Luzerne County; born in Wilkes-Barre Township, Luzerne County, Pa., May 26, 1875; coal miner; plumber; business agent, Building Trades Council of Wilkes-Barre; elected as a Union Labor candidate to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1907 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1908); elected as a Democrat, United States Congress (1913-1917, 1919-1921, 1923-1925, 1927-1929); appointed, labor advisor and executive of the labor adjustment division, Emergency Fleet Corporation, United States Shipping Board (World War I); business agent, Plumbers and Steam Fitters’ Union (1925-1926); unsuccessful campaign for reelection, Congress (1916, 1920, 1924); died in the office of Congress, May 5, 1929 in Panama City, Panama; interred, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
