EVANS, John R., a Representative from Erie and Crawford Counties; born, February 15, 1955 in Meadville, Crawford County, Pa.; graduated, Linesville-Conneaut Summit High School, 1973; B.A., speech communications, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania (now Pennsylvania Western University, Edinboro), 1983; M.A., communication studies, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania (now Pennsylvania Western University, Edinboro), 1999; television news reporter and anchor, WJET-TV, Erie (1980-2000); communications specialist, Erie Insurance Group (2000); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2000; reelected to serve 5 consecutive terms thereafter; not a candidate for reelection to the House (2012); elected, delegate, Republican National Convention (2004, 2008); adjunct professor, humanities, The Pennsylvania State University (2013-present); gubernatorial appointee, Small Business Advocate, Pennsylvania Office of Small Business Advocate (2013-2021).
