ROBBINS, Robert D., a Representative from Crawford and Mercer Counties; born in Greenville, Mercer County, Pa., August 27, 1944; graduated, Greenville High School, 1962;  B.S., United States Military Academy at West Point, 1966; graduate work, East Stroudsburg State College (now East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania); teaching certificate, Geneva College, 1973; captain, United States Army (1966-1971, Vietnam War: Soldier's Medal for Heroism, Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze Star recipient); instructor, United States Army Ranger School; teacher and head wrestling coach, Greenville High School; insurance agent, Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1982; reelected to serve 3 more consecutive terms; appointed, Legislative Budget and Finance Committee (1989-1994); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1990); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1991-2014); elected, Majority Caucus Secretary (2001-2014); appointed, Pennsylvania Milrite Council (1993-1994); appointed, Local Government Commission (1994-2014; chair, 1995-2000, 2005-2012); appointed, Select Committee to Investigate the Use of Automatic and Semiautomatic Firearms (1994); not a candidate for reelection, State Senate (2014).
