BACON, Robert, a Representative from Carbon County; born in Lansford, Carbon County, Pa., April 21, 1878; served, Company B, 8th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (Spanish-American War); player, Landford Anthracites, semi-professional baseball team; miner; timber contractor, Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company; member, Carbon County Republican Executive Committee (50 years); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1905 term and served 1 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1907 term; secretary, Landsford borough; elected, council, Landsford (24 years); died, April 18, 1956 in Landsford, Carbon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery, Summit Hill, Carbon County, Pennsylvania.
