ALSIP, Joseph Taylor, a Representative from Bedford County; born, March 11, 1846 in Schellsburg, Bedford County, Pa.; attended, Bedford Academy; attended, Duff’s Commercial College, Pittsburgh; clerk, Pennsylvania Railroad, Middletown (1 year); proprietor, Arandale hotel (1874-1914); manager, Bedford Springs Hotel (1894-1899); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1902 and 1904; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1906); died, September 7, 1914 in the borough of Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.
