ALEXANDER, William Cloud, a Representative from Delaware County; born in Thornbury Township, Delaware County, Pa., November 12, 1870; attended, West Chester Normal School (now West Chester University of Pennsylvania); shipping clerk, John M. Rowe, Son & Company; clerk, transportation department, Pennsylvania Railroad Company (6 years); assistant recorder of deeds, Delaware County; lawyer; solicitor, directors of the poor, Delaware County (1900-1906); solicitor, sheriff, Delaware County (1914-1918); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1919 term; reelected to serve 4 consecutive terms thereafter; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1929 term; campaign director, Democratic gubernatorial candidate John M. Hemphill (1930); died, June 24, 1943 in Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; interred, Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery, West Chester, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
