Biography
1878 -
Gen. Samuel B. Wolfe Union County, 1947-1964. Spanish-American War; Mexican Border War, WW I, WW II . Born in Lewisburg, graduated from Keller’s Business College; furniture business; sec. to U.S. Rep. Benjamin Focht; eight years councilman and burgess of Lewisburg to 1941; corp. to Lt. Nat. Guard, Spanish American War, 1898; Capt. of Cavalry Troop M, 1st Pa. Cav., Mexican Border War; Capt. Cav. and Artillery WWI and Maj. commanding 4th U.S. Cavalry. After the war, commanded a squadron of the 103rd Pa. Cavalry, Lt. Col. to full Col. with regimental command; reorganized the 103rd to the 190th field artillery, 1941; trainer at Ft. Shelby, Miss.; ret. as Brig. Gen.; state House of Reps., 1921-1922; state Senate, 1947-1964. Died in Lewisburg before 1968.
