Biography

1785 - 1881

Born May 21, 1785 in, Charleston, RI, Reuben Wilber was the son of Joseph and Nancy Wilber.  The family moved to Troy, Bradford Co. in 1807.  He was a veteran and paymaster in the War of 1812, cited for gallant service; pursued farming, elected sheriff, 1824; to the state Senate, 1830; associate judge 1845-49; presidential elector, 1856 for Buchanan; State Inspector of Prisons; and member of the board of (tax) equalization.  The senator married Sally Dobbins and died in Troy, Nov. 4, 1881.
