Biography

Born in 1934, New Holland, Lancaster County, Senator Wenger is the son of the late Elam Z. and Hettie Wenger. He was educated in Lancaster County public schools; pursued farming; director of the Ephrata National Bank and Ephrata Community Hospital; member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau; Ephrata Young Farmers; Cocalico School Authority, 1971-1985; Chesapeake Bay Commission; Legislative Audit Advisory Commission; Joint State Government Commission; state House of Representatives, 1977-1982; Senate of Pennsylvania, 1982-2006; Majority Caucus Chair, 1988-1992 and 1994-2006; Republican Caucus Secretary, 1993-1994; outdoorsman and member of numerous fraternal, civic, professional and religious organizations. He married Barbara Ann Bundrick.
