WOOD, Herferd Milton, a Representative from Elk County; born in the city of Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa., August 27, 1898; attended, Ridgway High School; attended, Mercersburg Academy; captain, Pennsylvania National Guard; brigadier general, United States Army (World War I and World War II); electrical contractor; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1939 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1941 term; died, June 22, 1977 in the city of Manatee, Manatee County, Florida; interred at Arlington National Cemetery, the city of Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia.
