THOMPSON, George Robert, a Representative from Adams County; born in Straban Township, Adams County, Pa., September 10, 1871; educated in Adams County; business man; auctioneer; farmer; elected, sheriff, Adams County (1912-1916); chair, Republican Committee, Adams County (1932-1938); director, Gettysburg National Bank (38 years); director, Gettysburg Building and Loan Association (5 years); appointed, field agent, Pennsylvania Bureau of Animal Industry (1933-1935); county chair, Governor Gifford Pinchot campaign; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1938; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1940); elected, alternate delegate, Republican National Convention (1944); died, January 10, 1959 in Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania.; interred, Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania.
