SWEENEY, Charles W., Sr., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, September 9, 1905 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; graduated, St. Joseph’s High School; A.B., St. Joseph’s College; LL.D., Temple University Law School; attorney-at-law; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives by Special Election on April 28, 1936 to serve the remaining 1935 term; Sworn-In, May 4, 1936; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1937 term; reelected to the House serve the 1939 term; appointed, Joint State Government Commission (1939-1940); not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1941 term; died, June 4, 1973 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
