WRIGHT, David R., a Representative from Armstrong, Clarion, Jefferson, and Venango Counties; born in Springfield, Greene County, Mo., December 24, 1935; graduated, Buffalo High School; A.A., Southwest Baptist University, 1955; B.J., University of Missouri, 1961; M.A., University of Missouri, 1962; Ph.D., Ohio University, 1971; attended, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, Ms.; served, x-ray technician, United States Army (1955-1958); professor, Clarion University of Pennsylvania (now Pennsylvania Western University, Clarion) (1971-2000); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1976; reelected to serve 9 more consecutive terms; elected, chair, Majority Policy Committee (1983-1988); appointed, Legislative Budget and Finance Committee (1981-1996); appointed, board, Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) (1981-1996; chair, 1991-1994; vice-chair, 1987-1990); appointed, Select Committee to Study the Feasibility of a Harrisburg University (1990); appointed, board chair, Center for Rural Pennsylvania (1995-1996); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1996); died, November 18, 2016 in Clarion, Clarion County, Pennsylvania.
