REYNOLDS, Hobson R., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born in Winton, Hertford County, NC, September 13, 1899; attended, North Carolina State Teachers Training School; attended, Eckels College of Embalmers; mechanic; undertaker; Republican Committeeman (1928-1937; 1957-1958); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1935 term; unsuccessful Republican candidate for reelection to the House for the 1937 term; reelected as a Democrat to the House to serve the 1939 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1941 term; magistrate, Philadelphia City Court (1944-1950); gubernatorial appointee, Worker’s Compensation referee, Department of Labor and Industry, Philadelphia (1951-1958); vice-chair, Philadelphia County Republican Committee (1957-1958); presidential appointee, assistant secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Development; trustee, Cheyney State College (now Cheyney University of Pennsylvania); delegate, Pennsylvania’s Constitutional Convention (1968); died, February 4, 1991 in Ahoskie, Hertford County, North Carolina; interred, Hobson R.
