Johnson Colliery, Dunmore; barber; elected, board, Dunmore School District (1918-1924); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1928, 1930, 1932, 1934 and 1936; reelected to the House as a Democrat in 1938, 1940, 1942, 1944 and 1946; appointed, Anthracite Subsidence Commission (1943-1944); appointed, Joint State Government Commission Sub-Committee on Fish and Game Commissions (1945-1946); appointed, Joint Legislative Committee on Tax-Exempt Real Property (1947-1948); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1948); elected, United States Congress (1949-1953); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to Congress (1952); died, June 24, 1953 in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania; interred, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
