MINTESS, Lewis Meade, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, December 26, 1895; attended, Downingtown Independent School; attended, Lincoln University; attended, Medico-Chirurgical College (now University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine); attended, Temple University; served, 813th Infantry, Medical Detachment, United States Army (World War I); typist, Recorder of Deeds office, Philadelphia County (1924-1934); typist, Receiver of City Taxes department, Philadelphia; chair, 7th Ward Republican Executive Committee; treasurer, Frederick Douglass Memorial Hospital and Training School; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1942; reelected to the House in 1946, 1948 and 1950; appointed, Joint Legislative Committee on Juvenile Delinquency and Child Welfare (1947-1948); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1944, 1952); died, July 24, 1982 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Eden Cemetery, Collingdale, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
