HOWELLS, Raymond John, a Representative from Northumberland County; born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa., June 11, 1892; sergeant, American Expeditionary Forces, 314th Infantry, United States Army (World War I; Purple Heart, Silver Star, Meritorious Award recipient); printer; director, Mount Carmel Item; member, Republican State Committee; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1945 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1947 term; died, November 29, 1976 in Ashland, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Aristes, Columbia County, Pennsylvania.
