EROE, William J., Jr., a Representative from Lawrence County; born in New Castle, Lawrence County, Pa., September 25, 1888; attended, New Castle High School; engaged in the jewelry business; first sergeant, Troop “F”, First Pennsylvania Calvary (1908-1911, Mexican Border), 48th Field Artillery (1916-1919, World War I), United States Army; second lieutenant, Calvary, Pennsylvania National Guard (1920-1922); secretary, Lawrence County Democratic Committee (1924-1932); elected, auditor, Lawrence County (1927-1932); elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1932); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1932 and 1934; appointed, Legislative Committee to Investigate Public Relief in Pennsylvania (1935-1936); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1936); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1936-1940); employed, American Cyanamid and Chemical Corp., NY; died, July 17, 1959 in New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania; interred, Oak Park Cemetery, New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
