Ortiz (1984-1988); director of special projects, APM, Inc.; deputy mayor, City of Philadelphia (1992-1994); president, Selecto Consultants, LLC; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1995, 1997 and 1999 terms; unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the House (2000, 2014); acting, Secretary of the Commonwealth (2003); unsuccessful at-large candidate for Philadelphia City Council (2007).
