WHEELER, Robert, Jr., “Jiggs,” a Representative from Fayette County; born, July 26, 1910 in Georges Township, Fayette County, Pa.; graduated, Georges Township High School, 1929; coal miner; road construction foreman; elected, auditor, Georges Township (1935-1936); elected, supervisor, Georges Township (1937, reelected in 1943); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1946; reelected to 6 more consecutive terms; appointed, Joint Legislative Committee on Revision of Vehicle and Tractor Codes (1947-1948); appointed, Local Government Commission (1949-1960; chair, 1953-1960); died while in office, June 13, 1960 in Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; interred, Maple Grove Cemetery, Fairchance, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
