VAUGHAN, John J., a Representative from Allegheny County; born, November 19, 1903 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa.; attended, Allegheny High School; attended, Bellefonte Academy; attended, Glenville State (College) Normal School, WV; served, 82nd Airborne Engineers, United States Army (World War II); professional football player, Pittsburgh Pirates (1933-1934); operated own entertainment company (14 years); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1946, 1952, 1954 and 1956; unsuccessful campaigns for reelection to the House (1948, 1950, 1958, 1964, 1966, 1968, 1970); investigator, Pennsylvania Securities Commission (1949-1958); appointed, Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission (1963-1969); died, December 27, 1978 in Baker, Okaloosa County, Florida.
