SWARTZ, Lawrence, a Representative from Lycoming County; born in Hughesville, Lycoming County, Pa., November 4, 1888; graduated, Hughesville High School; graduated, Lycoming Normal School; attended, State Teachers College in Lock Haven (now Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania); attended, Bloomsburg State Teachers College (now Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania); attended, Bucknell University; school teacher and principal (45 years); member, Young Men’s Democratic Club; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1955 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1957 term; died in January of 1978 in Hughesville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; interred, Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
