LONG, William Joseph, “Doc,” a Representative from Schuylkill County; born in Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County, Pa., June 18, 1926; graduated, Mahanoy City High School; private, 38th Division Infantry, United States Army (1944-1946, World War II); member, 3rd ward, Mahanoy City Democratic Committee; unsuccessful campaign for election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1958); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1960; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1962); employed, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources; died, December 17, 1991 in Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Canicus Cemetery, Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
