BOWMAN, James Spicer, a Representative from Dauphin County; born in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pa., June 20, 1918; graduated, Harrisburg Academy; A.B., Duke University; LL.B, University of Pennsylvania Law School, 1943; special counsel, Pennsylvania Legislative Reference Bureau (1943-1949); attorney, Nauman, Smith, Shissler and Hall, LLP; assistant city solicitor, Harrisburg (1954-1963); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1957 term and served 3 consecutive terms; resigned from the House, September 9, 1963; elected, judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Dauphin County (1963-1970); appointed, president judge, Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania (1970-1980); died, February 15, 1980 in Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Harrisburg Cemetery, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
