AN ACT
Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes, in lighting equipment, further providing for
general lighting requirements; and, in inspection of
vehicles, further providing for requirement for periodic
inspection of vehicles.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 4702 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:

Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended by adding
subsections to read:
§ 4303. General lighting requirements.

(h) Light-emitting diodes.--At least 50% of the ligh t-
emitting diodes in a lamp or light referenced under this
section, except off-road lighting, shall light properly.
§ 4702. Requirement for periodic inspection of vehicles.

(a.1) Vehicle lights.--A vehicle may not pass inspection if

less than 50% of the vehicle's head lamps or rear lighting with
light-emitting diodes, except ornamental lights, fail to light
properly.
(a.1) Light-emitting diodes.--A vehicle shall not pass a
safety inspection if more than 50% of the light-emitting diodes
of a lamp or light required under section 4303 (relating to
general lighting requirements) fail to light properly.

Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
