CREATING AN ANTHRACITE MINE DRAINAGE COMMISSION
                 Act of Dec. 17, 1959, P.L. 1918, No. 697             Cl. 52
                                  AN ACT

     Creating an Anthracite Mine Drainage Commission for the purpose
        of acting in an advisory capacity in the use of funds
        appropriated by the act of July 7, 1955 (P.L.258), entitled
        "An act providing for anthracite mine drainage, contingent on
        Federal aid, and making an appropriation."

        The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     hereby enacts as follows:

        Section 1.  There is hereby created a commission to be known
     as the "Anthracite Mine Drainage Commission," which shall
     consist of the Secretary of Mines and Mineral Industries and six
     other members who shall be appointed by the Governor as follows:
     Three from the employes of the anthracite mining industry and
     three from the mine owners or their association. The Secretary
     of Mines and Mineral Industries shall be chairman of the
     commission. The members of the commission shall serve without
     compensation. Vacancies occurring in the membership of the
     commission shall be filled in the same manner as the member
     whose place is vacated.
        Section 2.  It shall be the duty of the commission to keep
     fully informed with respect to all projects that are being or
     may be conducted through the appropriation provided by the act
     of July 7, 1955 (P.L.258), entitled "An act providing for
     anthracite mine drainage, contingent on Federal aid, and making
     an appropriation," and to act in an advisory capacity with
     respect to the use of funds provided by said appropriation.
        Section 3.  The commission shall make a report to the
     Governor and the General Assembly on or before the first day of
     February, 1961.
        Section 4.  This act shall take effect immediately.
