TO CREATE A BOARD OF CHARITIES ACT
                   Act of Apr. 5, 1872, P.L. 42, No. 34               Cl. 67
                               A SUPPLEMENT

     To an act, entitled "An Act to create a board of public
        charities," approved the twenty-fourth day of April, Anno
        Domini one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

        Section 1.  Statements to be made to Department of Welfare
     (1 repealed Dec. 14, 1992, P.L.887, No.142)
        Section 2.  Time of return of statements (2 repealed
     Dec. 14, 1992, P.L.887, No.142)
        Section 3.  Overseers and directors of poor to keep records,
     and make returns thereof
        It shall be the duty of the overseers and directors of the
     poor, or other persons having charge of the poor in the several
     counties, cities, boroughs and townships of this Commonwealth,
     and of all directors and managers of charitable and correctional
     institutions of the Commonwealth receiving State aid, to keep
     their records after the manner and in the form to be prescribed
     by the Board of Public Charities, and to make returns thereof to
     said board at such times as they may direct; and in default
     thereof, the person or persons so offending shall forfeit and
     pay a fine of not less than one hundred dollars, to be sued for
     and collected by the general agent, in the name of the Board of
     Public Charities, for the use of the Commonwealth.  1872, April

        Section 4.  Plans of prisons and almshouses to be inspected
     and approved
        Before any county prison or county almshouse shall be erected
     within this Commonwealth, the plan of construction of such
     prison or almshouse, drawn sufficiently in detail for clear
     comprehension thereof, shall be submitted by the commissioners
     of the county in which the same is to be built, to the Board of
     Public Charities, and shall be inspected and approved by said
     board, and so certified by the secretary of said board upon the
     plan, a copy of which shall be furnished by the commissioners at
     the time of their submitting the original as aforesaid, and
     shall be signed by the secretary of said board, and shall be
     filed and remain in the office of the Secretary of the
     Commonwealth.  1872, April 5, P.L. 42, Sec. 4.
        Section 5.  Clerical assistance
        The said Board of Public Charities may engage and employ such
     clerical assistance as they may require, the expense thereof not
     to exceed fifteen hundred dollars per annum.  1872, April 5,
