Subject: Supporting Pennsylvania’s Dairy Farmers
 
We intend to introduce legislation that will assist Pennsylvania’s dairy farmers. Our legislation will allow the Pennsylvania Milk Marketing Board to collect and distribute the over-order premium collected on Class I fluid milk in Pennsylvania and allow for flexibility for the board regarding the future of the premium and address some of the ancillary items that have been seen historically with the over-order premium.

This discussion has been ongoing for many years with plenty of strong opinions from various stakeholder groups and has been the focus of several committee hearings. We feel that taking a holistic approach to the entire over-order premium process is the best way to ensure a strong economic performance within our state’s dairy industry not only today, but in the future.
