Subject: January 2025 as "School Directors Recognition Month"
 
In the near future, I plan on introducing a resolution designating January 2025 as "School Directors Recognition Month" in Pennsylvania.

School board directors volunteer their time and effort to ensure our public schools are governed well, for the benefit of students and the whole community. PA has approximately 4500 school directors serving 500 public school districts. 41% of school directors attended the schools in the district where they serve, while 94% of school directors have children who attend school in their district.

The school director's position is not an easy one, they are key decision-makers on issues such as school safety and security, budgeting, policy, hiring, and textbooks. They also identify school funding issues, charter schools, and teacher/substitute shortages as top concerns for public schools.
