Subject: Homestead Property Tax Deduction for State Income Taxes
 
Soon, I intend to reintroduce legislation which would provide for full property tax relief for homesteads and farmsteads in the Commonwealth. Specifically, this plan would need to raise approximately $8.5 billion. I am proposing to raise the sales tax by 1% and the personal income tax (PIT) by just over 1.5%.
 
While there have been a variety of plans put forth, I feel that due to the overwhelming passage of the 2017 referendum to the Pennsylvania Constitution, we have the ability to provide meaningful property tax relief to the people of Pennsylvania that need it most, homeowners.
