Subject: | Reinstating Pittsburgh’s Rodeo Ban |
Since 1992, the City of Pittsburgh has banned practices used at rodeos, like electric prods and bucking straps, which inflict pain and cause injuries to animals. In practice, this local law banned rodeos from the city and has been in place for decades. But this summer, with no public input or consultation with stakeholders, the General Assembly quietly and swiftly gutted Pittsburgh’s law as part of this year’s state budget deal. I intend to introduce legislation to repeal the preemption of Pittsburgh’s rodeo ban, reinstating in full the local law that has been in place for more than 30 years. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to protect both animals and the will of local governments and constituents. |
