Subject: Streamlining Regulatory Oversight of the Bottled Water Industry
In an effort to streamline regulatory oversight of Pennsylvania’s bottled water industry, I will introduce legislation to ensure that only the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture regulates this industry.

Currently, the Department of Agriculture regulates bottled water that is less than a half-gallon while the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection regulates bottled water greater than a half-gallon. The current regulatory process makes no sense, and no other state regulates their bottled water like this. Having two regulators doing the same thing at the same time is wasteful, inefficient, and needlessly costs businesses time and money.

This legislation will also ensure that water bottlers adhere to Federal labeling laws and adhere to Federal recall standards.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.

Introduced as SB1203
