Subject: | Combating AI Generated Child Porn and Deepfakes |
In the near future, we will be introducing legislation based off of HB 1063, to combat “deepfake” images of minors and child porn generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Recently, some websites have been involved with a practice of publishing realistic AI-generated sexual images of non-consenting adults and, in some instances, children. These images may be artificial but are created by using data and images from real individuals and children. Some predators have utilized the technology in schemes analogous to revenge porn, by publishing convincing – albeit artificial – pornographic images of sexual partners, or other individuals, online for the sole purpose of causing shame, humiliation, and embarrassment. This technology makes it almost impossible for a viewer to discern whether the images depicted are real or computer-generated. While the unauthorized dissemination of an intimate image is unlawful in this Commonwealth, the law does not specially address the usage of AI deepfake technology to create and disseminate an intimate image of a non-consenting person. Our legislation will make it clear that the use of AI deepfake technology to create pornographic images of an individual without their consent is prohibited. Our legislation will also prohibit the use of deepfake technology to create child pornography. Please join us in co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation which will help to combat AI driven sexual exploitation. |
