MEMORANDUM

Subject: Skilled Nursing Care Week in Pennsylvania

In the near future, we plan to introduce a resolution joining in a nationwide celebration which will recognize the week of May 14- 20, 2023, as “Skilled Nursing Care Week” in Pennsylvania.

Established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967, National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW) recognizes the essential role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s frail, elderly, and disabled. The week starts each year on Mother’s Day and is celebrated through the following Saturday.

The theme for NSNCW 2023 is "Cultivating Kindness.” Inspired by the many acts of kindness that happen in skilled nursing care centers each day, this theme celebrates the vital role that skilled nursing care facilities and their staff play in creating and nurturing connections for their residents.

NSNCW 2023 will focus on this collective effort and the amazing strength and dedication of those who work tirelessly every day to care for and protect frail, elderly, and disabled adults in long-term care. With each new season comes new beginnings, new strategies, and new information.

We hope that you will join us in honoring the work being done at Skilled Nursing Care facilities by dedicated and selfless healthcare professionals across the Commonwealth by co-sponsoring this resolution.
