Subject: | Residential Hunting Licenses for Out of State College Students |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that aims to include full-time out of state college students in Pennsylvania’s great hunting and fur taking traditions while also experiencing our wonderful outdoors. This bill would provide these students a resident fee for a hunting license. The Fish and Boat Commission has an identical program for fishing licenses, but the Game Commission, which cannot set their own license prices, need a legislative fix to implement the program. In order to be eligible for the residential rate, the student must show a valid in state college identification card as proof of enrollment when applying for the license. The Game Commission, Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, as well as the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsman and Conservationists all support this legislation. I believe this legislation will increase hunting license sales, potentially attract out of state students to stay in Pennsylvania after college and at the very least keep them coming back to our great state to hunt in the future. Please join me in supporting legislation that allows us to show off our great hunting and fur taking traditions across the commonwealth. |
