Subject: | Authority for School Administrators in Pittsburgh Public Schools to Organize |
Since 1996, principals and vice principals who work in the School District of Philadelphia have been able to organize. Pittsburgh Public Schools is the largest district in Allegheny County and second largest in Pennsylvania, with 54 school buildings that educate over 20,000 students. Principals and vice principals play a critical role in our schools and students’ success. Allowing school administrators in Pittsburgh Public Schools to organize will ensure that they have the resources and tools they need to educate and best serve our students. I plan to introduce legislation that will add Pittsburgh Public Schools to the list of school districts whose administrators are authorized to organize under the Administrative Code. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation so that principals in our two largest school districts have the same right to organize. |
