Subject: Hemp as commercial animal feed
 
Soon, I will be introducing legislation that will allow the use of hemp, its by-products, and derivatives in commercial animal feed.  This legislation would mirror legislation passed earlier last year in Montana (HB396 of 2020) that provides authority for hemp’s use as commercial feed for horses, pets, and specialty pets and livestock.  Hemp seed has been regarded as safe for human consumption by the USDA but is still considered illegal as animal feed. 

Please join me in providing a new market for Pennsylvania’s hemp producers by co-sponsoring this legislation.
